Hi, I’m Russell, and I’m one of your teachers here. I am from Canada, and my hometown is Toronto. I went to school at Royal Military College of Canada, and York University, where I studied Psychology. My first job as a teacher was at Binzhou Medical University in Yantai, Shandong Province, where I stayed for two years. I enjoyed my work there very much, and it’s where I developed a great love for China. My students in Yantai taught me how exciting it can be to exchange stories and experiences about our communities and our lives. After my time in Yantai, I spent one year in Toronto, teaching English, writing curriculum, and teaching TESL (I taught over 80 teachers from Canada, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, and Korea). Now, I have returned to Shanghai, and I’m so looking forward to creating a space for dialogue here at Wall Street, where we can share our stories! I’m looking forward to hearing yours! Russell
Gidday, my name is Edward and I am a Foreign Trainer in Shanghai 7. It has been nearly 3 years since I joined Wall Street in the summer of 2008. I have to say during that time, it was a real turning point in my life. Not only had I joined one of the most renowned training centre in the world, I also packed my self up and got married. To be exact, I got married when I was still in probation and yes, everything fell into place eventually. I came to China from New Zealand 6 years ago, and started my first year teaching career in JiangXi province. After that I’ve never wanted to go back to New Zealand here and made a decision was made to stay here in China. My family background is actually Chinese and I had spent most of my life growing up in New Zealand.
Hi everyone! My name is Jess, and I come from the city of Durban, in South Africa. I’ve been in Shanghai for just over a year, and I love it! At university I studied politics, economics and philosophy, and became very interested in China, and although my goal of learning Chinese is not progressing very well, I’m loving discovering this country. I love learning Chinese (especially the characters) and singing KTV (I can even sing some Chinese songs!), and chatting to my students, so come find me in the Westgate Center.
I’m from a small town in England called Lincoln, and studied Music in Manchester. After completing the CELTA qualification I moved to China in 2008 after having met lots of Chinese friends who had told me how great it was here! They were right; I can’t stop eating so much Chinese food so my students keep telling me I’m getting fatter and fatter! I can also play some music in Shanghai, I’m a drummer so I need to rock out every now and again. I’m coming up to two years with Wall Street and am having a great time. Some of my highlights at Wall Street have been the special projects we often run, like the Public Speaking Contest, special weekly English Corner projects, and of course the parties! I’m looking forward to lots more fun (and learning) as I continue teaching here. We’ve got a great team over at Metro City and a great set of students too. Come down and see us! Thanks everybody!
